2012.09.12

A Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) team has been deployed to Libya in response to recent attacks on U.S. diplomatic personnel and property, it has emerged.

The move comes after Washington's ambassador to Tripoli and three other Americans were killed when protestors stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

Part of the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, FAST teams are highly trained U.S. Marines who deploy to hot spots around the world. They are trained to protect embassies, Naval bases and other high value installations.
