More FAST team deployments

2012.09.15

Hot on the heels of the reported deployment of a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) platoon to Libya earlier this week, it has now been reported that more teams from the elite USMC unit have been deployed to guard US diplomatic properties, this time in Sudan and Yemen.

The deployment of the FAST teams is in response to increasing anti-American sentiment and unrest in Muslim countries caused by a controversial anti-Islam film produced in the U.S.

Fleet Antiterrorism Security Teams are elite security teams that deploy as needed around the world. Typically deploying as 50-man platoons, FAST teams are used to reinforce security at U.S. embassies, consulates, military installations etc.
