AFSOC Combat Controllers (CCTs) from the 21st Special Tactics Squadron watch as a MC-130P Combat Shadow aircraft takes off from a runway at Eglin Air Force Base range, Florida during an exercise to hone humanitarian and disaster relief efforts.

CCTs may be called on to perform air traffic control for aircraft operating at air strips without working traffic control towers due to a natural disaster such as a hurricane.
