Airmen with the 379th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron Fly-Away Security Team (FAST) take up position in front of a C-130 during a training mission.

USAF FASTs are elite teams of hand-picked Security Forces airmen who travel with air assets, such as cargo planes, to locations where extra security is needed.

Their mission typically involves providing a security screen around a USAF aircraft after it lands at an unsecured foreign airfield.

This may include watching over an aircraft while it is parked up overnight.

Fly-Away Security Teams are given 2 weeks of training to prepare them for this special mission.

This training includes the use of batons, combative training, use-of-force scenarios and the use of verbal communication to diffuse tense situations.

These FAST members are armed with M4 carbines fitted with AN/PEQ-2 lasers and Aimpoint Comp M red dot optics.

The 2 left-most Airmen's M4s are fitted with Surefire M900 vertical grip lights.
