Airmen with the 341st Security Forces Group Tactical Response Force (TRF) exit a UH-1N Huey operated by the 40th Helicopter Squadron.

Both units protect the 13,800 square-mile missile complex.

at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montanan.

Malmstrom AFB's 341st Missile Wing operates the LGM-30G Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

Spread across the vast complex are 15 missile alert facilities controlling 150 ICBMs.

The Tactical Reponse Force is an elite SWAT-style unit that is tasked with the protection and recapture of nuclear weapons and associated facilities.

In the photo shown here, they are securing an area during an ICBM convoy operation.

Nuclear weapons are at their most vulnerable when being moved so the TRF and other Security Forces elements will be on a high state of alert during such operations.

The UH-1N Hueys flown by the 40th Helicopter Squadron are primarily used to move Security Force Group airmen around the Malmstrom missile complex and to carry out airborne security sweeps.
