Richfield City, in Hennepin County, Minnesota is a inner-ring suburb of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region.

Richfield PD SWAT was formed in 1974 following a hostage incident in the city's Country Club Market.

It is made up of 12 officers who commit to a 5-year service in the team after passing selection.

The SWAT unit trains regularly and is a member of the South Metro Tactical Training consortium.

Weapons include Glock 22 .

40 S&W pistols, M4 Commando 5.56x45mm carbines and MP5A3 9x19mm sub machine guns.

Optics include SU-231 EOTech holographic sights.
