MARSOC - GMV-M

MARSOC Marines assigned to Special Operations Task Force-West return from a patrol in Herat province, Afghanistan. The Marines are travelling in up-armored GMV-Ms, the Marine version of the Ground Mobility Vehicle. Note the amount of firepower mounted on the vehicles - a MK19 40mm grenade launcher in the main turret and 2 belt-fed machine guns mounted at the rear (M249 and MK 48 Mod O). Up-armored GMVs are typically based on the M1165 HMMMWV, adapted for the SOF role and able to be fitted with various armor-kits.
