Navy SEAL Divers - Wetsuits

Navy SEAL Divers Wearing Wetsuits
U.S. Navy Photo

Carrying rubber training carbines, a pair of Navy SEAL combat divers move out of the water. Rubber replicas are sometimes used when training in the water as the real things require extensive cleaning afterwards and can get mislaid.

The SEALs are wearing diving masks and MK 25 rebreathers - a type of closed circuit SCUBA - over hooded Xcel Infiniti Synergy wetsuits.

They have removed their flippers and have them looped over their right arm.

Wetsuits such as those shown here are made from foamed neoprene, a synthetic rubber.

They provide a degree of thermal insulation and buoyancy for the wearer.

Diving gloves may also be made from neoprene.
