A pair of MH-47 Chinook helicopters, operated by the Night Stalkers of the 160th Special Operations Regiment (160th SOAR) touch down in order to take on a Navy SEAL / Afghan Commando special operations task force for a mission in Afghansitan, June 2011.

MH-47 Chinooks are a heavy lift helicopter designed for special operations.

They are able to insert and extract a large number of fully-laden commandos to and from the battlefield and can operate in the high and hot conditions of the Afghanistan mountains.
