Early model MH-60a Black Hawk helicopter, flown by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, comes into land on the Hercules, a modified oil servcing barge that was converted into a mobile sea base for the covert Operation Prime Chance and the overt and simultaneous Operation Earnest Will (August 1987-August 1988).

During these operations, SOAR helicopters were part of a US task force that ensured that neutral oil tankers and other merchant vessels were able to safely transit the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War.
