Ranger Fire Support Officer

A Fire Support Officer (FSO) with the 75th Ranger Regiment observes a target during a training mission. Deploying as a part of a Ranger FiST (Fire Support Team), FSE (Fire Support Element) or COLT (Combat Observation and Lasing Team), Ranger Fire Support Officers call in surface-to-surface and air-to-surface supporting fires ie artillery, mortars and close air support. They also have a reconnaissance role.
