This Ranger is armed with a M4a1 5.56mmx45mm carbine fitted with several SOPMOD Block I accessories including a ECOS-N (Aimpoint CompM2) optical sight, quick-attach mount holding a M203 40mm grenade launcher, AN/PEQ-2 Target Pointer/Illuminator/Aiming Light (TPIAL).
The Special Operations Peculiar MODification (SOPMOD) kit is a set of accessories designed for rifles/carbines employed by U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) troops.
SOPMOD Block I accessories have now been superceded by more up-to-date BLOCK II versions.
