U,S. Army Rangers take aim with their weapons. The Ranger in the foreground is armed with a MK 48 Mod ) belt-fed machine gun. Te MK 48 is an off-shoot of the M249 SAW, the US Army's standard light machine gun. Unlike the 5.56mmx51mm M249, the MK 48 is chambered in 7.62mmx51mm. Other modifications include the addition of rails for adding accessories such as the Trijicon ACOG sight (as shown in this photo) and the lack of a port for fitting M16-style magazines which is found on the M249.
