Rangers - Mortar Platoon

Members of a Ranger Mortar Platoon fire a mortar during training in Afghanistan.
Each Ranger battalion includes a Battalion Mortar Platoon which may employ 81mm and 120mm mortars.
Mortars can fire a range of ammunition, including high explosive, white phospherous, smoke and illumination rounds.
Ranger rifle companies also feature a Mortar Section within their Weapons Platoon.
These are typically armed with 60mm M224 mortars.
