The 3rd SFG(A) are normally focused on operations in the AFRICOM area of responsiblity (AOR).
There they have carried out a number of training missions with U.S. allies in the region.
Since 9/11, elements of the group have deployed to Afghanistan as part of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan
