Special Forces - Machine Guns

Army Special Forces Firing Machine Guns
U.S. Air Force Photo/Airman 1st Class Jeff Parkinson

U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers fire a .50 cal M2 heavy machine gun (left) and a M240B medium machine gun, both mounted on a Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMVs) at Eglin Range, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

Green Berets can employ GMVs and other vehicles as mobile gun platforms, operating in a fire support role.

Such weapons also allow a mounted patrol to counter an ambush.

Knowing how to effectively use such firepower in concert with other force elements is an important special forces skill.
