7th Special Forces Group - urban training
U.S. Army Special Operations Command Photo

A Special Forces soldier prepares to enter a building during CQB training at Fort Bragg, N.C.

This Green Beret is armed with a M4A1 carbine, a 5.56mmx45mm weapon fitted here with a ECOS-N aimpoint scope, M203 40mm grenade launcher, flashlight and PEQ-2 infrared laser.

Special Forces soldiers are highly trained in close quarters battle (CQB) techniques.

Each Special Forces Group (SFG) sends its 12-man ODAs through the Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat (SFAUC) training course.

As part of the war on terror, Green Berets, and the indigenous forces that they have trained and mentored, have carried out numerous raids on insurgent-held buildings in both and Iraq.
