Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) Force Reconnaissance Platoon fire M4a1 carbines during a Dynamic Assault Course at the Special Operations Training Group (SOTG) at Camp Hansen.

The 5-week course teaches Force Recon Platoons all the skills necessary for them to carry out direct action missions.

When deployed on the float with their parent MEU, the Force Recon Platoon (FRP), as the assault element of the Maritime Raid Force, may be called on to perform direct action raids.

The Dynamic Assualt Course at the SOTG instructs the FRP in rifle and pistol marksmanship, insertion techniques, explosive breaching and room clearing.
