Force Recon | M27 IAR

A reconnaissance man with Force Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion provides security while other members of his reconnaissance team gather up chutes following a parachute insertion during a training mission.

When tasks such as gathering up chutes, cacheing a zodiac boat, establishing a hide etc are required, typically half the 6-man reconnaissance team act as security while the rest of the team carry out the task.

This method maintains a constant state of situational awareness and ability to respond to threats.

This Force Recon operator is armed with a M27 Infantry Assault Rifle.

This relatively new additon to the USMC's armory is earmarked to replace many of the Corp's M249 SAW machine guns.

With such a weapon, a Marine can lay down accurate suppressive fire.
