A Marine with the 24th MEU's Maritime Raid Force (MRF) looks through the scope of a M107 .50 cal Special Application Scoped Rifle (SASR) during a joint training op with Jordanian Special Forces.

The Maritime Raid Force is a relatively small unit made up from several elements within a Marine Expeditionary Force (MEU).

A core component of the MEU's Force Recon detachment is augmented with Division Recon Marines (Amphibious Recon Platoon), a security platoon from the Battalion Landing Team, intelligence personel and signals support, amongst others.

The Maritime Raid Force conducts special missions such as small scale direct action raids and maritime interdiction operation.

Scout Sniper-qualified Marines with either the MEU's Ground Combat Element's Weapons Company or the Amphibious Recon Platoon may provide sniper cover for Maritime Raid Force operations.
