This photo highlights the range of weaponry employed by Scout Snipers.

The right-most Marine is holding a .50 SASR anti-material rifle, the Marine to his right is holding a M4a1 carbine with M203 grenade launcher, a M40 7.62mmx51mm bolt-action sniper rifle is at his feet.

The Scout Sniper, second from left, is weilding a MK 12 SPR 5.56mmx45mm rifle while the left-most Marine is armed with a MK 11 Mod 0 7.62mmx51mm rife.

Scout Snipers are specially-trained Marines who provide close reconnaissance and surveillance for their assigned infantry battalion as well as providing precision fire on selected targets.

A number of Force Recon and Battalion Recon Marines will also hold the Scout Sniper (MOS 0317) qualification.
