Members of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort Special Reaction Team (SRT) shoot the newly-issued M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistol (CQBP).

The United States Marine Corps plans to replace the M9a1 9mm pistols in service in some units with the M45 CQBP, which is chambered in .

45ACP.

The M45 CQBP is the latest in a series of custom Colt 1911 pistols employed by USMC special ops units such as Force Recon and MARSOC.

USMC Special Reaction Teams are SWAT-style tactical units that are stationed at USMC bases.

Drawn from experiended members of the bases' Provost Marshal’s Office, SRTs are trained to respond to crisis situations such as active shooters, barricaded suspects and other high risk law enforcement scenarios.
