Force Reconnaissance Platoon - 13th MEU

The Force Recon Force Recon (Platoon (FRP) with the 13th MEU Maritime Raid Force (MRF)conducts maritime interdication operations (MIO) aboard a gas/oil platform (GOPLAT). Footage includes Marines climbing a rope ladder onto the platform as well as FRP operators sweeping across the structure. This clip shows the difficulties of securing a complicated 3-dimensional structure such as the average GOPLAT. There are walkways and doorways in all directions with piles of machinery and equipment offering potenital places of concealment to adversaries. Moving up steep, narrow, exposed stairways in a potentially hostile environment also concentrates the mind. Force Recon Platoons will regulary practise in such environments in order to maintain the skill sets required for real-world operations.
