Task Force 20

TF 20, operating in the western Iraqi desert, was formed around core JSOC components with assorted supporting elements

• C Squadron, Delta Force
• SEALS from Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU)
• 24th Special Tactics Squadron
• Grey Fox (ISA)
• CIA Special Activities Division (SAD)
• 75th Ranger Regiment

TF 20 was supported by a battalion from the 82nd Airborne Division as well as artillery and armor assets. Aviation support was provided by AH-6, MH-6, MH-60K, MH-60L DAP and MH-47 Chinooks flown by the 160th SOAR.

Task Force 20 was tasked with special reconnaissance, sensitive site exploitations (hunting for WMDs) and seizing key iraqi bases and installations. One such sensitive site exploitation was the helicopter-borne assault of the suspected WMD site at Al Qadisiyah.

Delta Force operators with Task Force 20 were involved in the attempt to take out Saddam with an airstrike in Baghdad.

During later stages of operations, TF 20 was supported by a number of M1 Abrams Tanks that were flown into the H1 airfield by C-17 Special Operations Low Level II aircrews.
