Maritime Safety & Security Team | Vertical Insertion

Members of a Coast Guard Maritime Safery & Security Team (MSST) conduct vertical insertion (fast-rope) training. MSST Law Enforcement Force Protection Teams include a Vertical Insertion Team of MSST members trained in fast-roping techniques. The MSST is a maritime anti-terrorism unit which role includes the boarding of non-compliant vessels from small boats and helicopters. MSSTs are under the Coast Guard's Deployable Operations Group command, which commands all the USCG's special forces.
