MSST - On-Ship Training

MSST on-ship training
U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Eric J. Chandler.

U.S. Coast Guardsmen with MSST Honolulu practise on-ship CQB drills aboard USS Ogden, a mothballed Austin-class amphibious transport dock.

Maritime Safety and Security Teams (MSST) are an elite U.S. Coast Guard Deployable Specialized Force (DSF) tasked with securing ports, coastlines and waterways.

Their role includes boarding and securing vessels which are suspected of illegal or terrorist activities and as such regulary train in the skills required to operate and fight in the confined spaces aboard a ship.
