Several MC-130J Commando II aircraft fly in low-level formation over the New Mexico desert, November 2013.

Commando 2s another in a long line of USAF special ops aircraft based on the design of the venerable C-130 cargo plane.

They are operated by the 522nd Special Operations Squadron out of Cannon AFB, New Mexico.

The 522nd SOS is part of the 27th Special Operations Wing.

The squadron flies the MC-130J as a mid-air refueling aircraft for SOF rotor-wing assets as well as in the SOF insertion, extraction and resupply role.
