Combat Controller | SCAR-H

A U.S.A.F. Combat Controller (CCT) with the 321st Special Tactics Squadron takes aim with a MK-17 Mod 0 SCAR-H rifle at a firing range.

The SCAR-H is a 7.62x51mm modular weapon system that is used by various United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) units.

This operator's SCAR-H is fitted with a SpecterDR 1.5-6x Multi-Function Combat Day Sight, AN/PEQ-15 Advanced Target Pointer Illuminator Aiming Light (ATPIAL) and SU-233/PVS light.

Combat Controllers are U.S. Air Force special operators tasked with pathfinder operations in support of special operations.

Their role includes surveying and marking out landing zones, drop zones and airfields and controlling and coordinating movements of aircraft in the air and on the ground.

They are also skilled Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) capable of calling in close air support from fast jets and attack helicopters.
