A Marine with a Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) provides security from an all terrain vehicle / quad bike while on operations with Afghan special forces in Helmand Province, April 2013.

Note the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) mounted on the ATV (Polaris MV 850) via a swing arm mount.

The Polaris MV 850 features a twin cylinder 850cc engine that provides 77 horsepower.

For steep inclines it features active descent control and an engine braking system.

It can be configured to run dark with infra-red head lamps.

MSOTs have employed ATVs and their slightly larger cousins, the LTATVs on numerous operations in Afghanistan.
