3d Marine Special Operations Battalion

, 3d MSOB is one of 3 Battalions within MARSOC's Marine Special Operations Regiment (MSOR).

Each MSOB features 4 Marine Special Operations Companies (MSOC), each of those contain 4 14-man Marine Special Operations Teams (MSOT), the basic fighting element of the MSOR.

During recent deployments to Afghanistan, MSOTs from 3d MSOB have deployed to remote locations in that country in order to carry out Foreign Internal Defense (FID) operations under the Joint Combined Exchange Training program ie training and mentoring local military forces.
