A Scout Sniper with Company B, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion fires at Taliban targets with a M107 SASR (Special Applications Scoped Rifle) during a firefight in the Sangin area of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Reconnaissance Marine snipers hold the secondary Military Occupational Specialty of MOS 0317 and have succesfully completed the Scout Sniper Basic Course (SSBC) at USMC Scout Sniper School.

The M107 SASR, otherwise known as the Barrett, is an anti-material rifle that can take out hard targets out to 1,800 meters.
