MARSOC Marines in a GMV-M (Ground Mobility Vehicle) on a joint patrol with Afghan police in Aghanistan, August 2007.

The GMV-M is the variant of the GMV, tailored for use by Marine Special Operations Battalions (MSOBs).

GMVs are based on the HMMWV platform, with improved suspension, ground clearance and various other modifications designed for special operations.

Note the amount of firepower mounted on the Marines' vehicle.

A .50 m2 heavy machine gun is mounted in a turret atop the GMV-M while a rear gunner mans a M204G 7.62mm x 51mm medium machine gun mounted in the flatbed section.

A M136 84mm rocket launcher is stowed over the passenger-side doors.
