The Deep Reconnaissance Platoon (DRP) with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit perform pistol and rifle drills aboard the USS Essex, 2006.

Note the MEU(SOC) .

45 pistols wielded by the Marines.

DRPs perform force reconnaissance for their assigned Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) - as a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) - commander.

The Deep Reconnaissance Platoon is focussed on the traditional 'green' side of Force Recon's role ie ground and amphibious reconnaissance, typically in the deep battle space.
