Army Special Forces soldiers assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group (AIrborne) prepare to engage enemy combatants during a simulated raid on a drug cartel facility during an exercise at Eglin Air Force Base, Feb 2015.

In additon to their typical assault gear, the Green Beerets are wearing M40a1 Field Protective masks.

The M40a1 gas masks feature a face-mounted C2 canister that filters out a maximum of 15 nerve, choking, and blister agent attacks.

Troops may wear such respirators when operating at a location likely to contain dangerous chemicals - such as a drug cartel base - and/or when deploying tear gas.
