Green Berets with the 7th Special Forces Group provide covering fire from the prone position during small unit tactics training.

Apprentice-level small unit tactics are taught during the third phase of the Special Forces Qualification Course, otherwise known as the 'Q course'.

During such training, candidates learn the various tactical combat skills required to operate and fight as part of a 12-man SF-ODA.

Fully-fledged Green Berets practise and hone their small unit tactical skills on a regular basis.

The 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) (7th SFG(A)) is a United States Army Special Forces unit that is assigned the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) area or operations (AOR).
