U.S. Army Special Forces advisors have played a key rol in Afghanistan.
Green Berets were among the first US forces into the country following the September 11th 2001 attacks.
They worked with inidgenous Afghan forces of the Northern Alliance to oust the Taliban from power.
In the proceeding years, the Green Berets have used their skills in unconventional warfare to wage a counter insurgency campaign against the Taliban and its affiliates.
